Message to foreign residents in Japan

Tea ceremony -Chado- is a traditional part of Japanese culture.
Chado can be explained as a synthesis of many art forms. It includes the spirit of Zen, kodo, flower arrangement. architecture, calligraphy, industrial crafts, tea ceremony dinner and Japanese confections.
In the tea ceremony, the host sreves a bowl of tea that includes the spirits of all these art forms.
First, the host draws up water in buckets and brings it to the tea ceremony room. Then, he arranges flowers and makes up the room. The host then makes a fire and boils the water, he makes a bowl of tea and he offers the tea in front of God. He serves the tea to the guests and they drink together.
Learning the tea ceremony is not only the way of serving or driinking tea, but it is also considered as mental training for the spirit of Zen.
Let’s try to learn the mindset of hospitality through the art of tea ceremony.
